Breakdown of the Recruitment Process
The H2-A recruiting process takes approximately 15 weeks, from application to arrival, and includes the following steps:
- Initiate contact with the US Department of Labor via Form 790
- Advertise the job opening according to H2-A regulations
- Contact any former employees you wish to include in your labor order
- Notify US Department of Labor the results of job advertising
- Petition Homeland Security for the number of work visas needed
- Wait for Homeland Security to notify the Consulate of work visa approval
- Qualified farm workers with passports are interviewed at the Consulate
- Workers are transported from Laredo, Texas to your location
